Law enforcement officials say two people were hospitalized following an accident at the intersection of Northeast 71st Street and Northeast 2nd Avenue. This accident involved a tractor-trailer and several vehicles.

The accident happened at the intersection of Northeast 71st Street and Northeast 2nd Avenue where the driver of a tractor-trailer was traveling at a high rate of speed. The 47-year-old man driving the vehicle reportedly lost control while approaching the intersection.

The tractor-trailer hit three vehicles at the intersection and injured two of the drivers. The first vehicle struck by the truck was a dark-colored Ford pickup truck driven by a 36-year-old man. The other two vehicles involved in the accident were a Nissan Altima and a Chrysler sedan. The identity of these drivers has not been released by officials.

EMS arrived to the scene of the accident soon after it happened to administer on-site first aid to the injured victims in the incident. They transported the injured victims to the nearest hospitals for medical treatment. The number of the people injured has not been made public, however the crew confirmed that no one died in the accident.

Officials say the incident is still under investigation and no further details were released.
