Merrill Road Accident; Officer Hospitalized

According to a report from Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, an officer was taken to a hospital after an accident with another vehicle on Merrill Road.

It was reported that the officer was responding to an emergency call at the intersection of Merrill Road and Lansdowne Drive. Another vehicle, traveling in the opposite direction, did not stop for the officer and crashed into his patrol car.

The collision left his patrol car damaged and him with injuries, troopers said. Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department officers performed first aid before taking him to nearest hospital for treatment, the report said.

Police said the other driver involved in the crash was not hurt. No further details about the crash have been released yet.

The crash is under investigation, police said.
