The Florida Highway Patrol reported that a 23-year-old man was killed after being struck by a car on State Road 80 in Lee County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was walking in the center westbound lane of State Road 80 near Morse Plaza when he was hit by a car driven by a 54-year-old man.

Troopers said, the pedestrian was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital, but he did not survive due to several critical injuries sustained.

Information about the pedestrian has been withheld from the general public until the investigation is complete, however, FHP said in the report that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

The incident is still under investigation
