Authorities reported a crash that left a man trapped underneath a SUV at Walmart in Jacksonville. He was critically injured and was taken to the hospital.

According to Jacksonville Fire Rescue, crews responded to the crash on San Jose Boulevard near I-295. The man was standing in the Walmart parking lot as a driver backed out of a parking space. Another driver quickly pulled into the space but did not see the man standing there and ran him over. The man, identified to be in his 60’s, was completely under the SUV.

Firefighters were able to pull him out and transport him to Orange Park Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Police say the driver cooperated with them as she appeared shaken by the incidence.

The crash remains an active investigation. Witnesses at the store were being interviewed. Details of the victim have not been released by the officials.

Marc Anidjar, from the Law Firm of Anidjar and Levine, comments on this crash:  “Car accidents not only take place on our public roads, but they also occur in parking lots. In fact, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, 20 percent of all auto accidents do take place in commercial parking lots.  Even low speed crashes can cause serious injuries. This is particularly true when the crash involves a pedestrian versus a car.  We hope that the victim makes a speedy recovery and that he contacts an experience car crash attorney that can help him recover damages.”
