Man, Child Killed In Fiery Crash In Plantation

An early morning fatal car crash and fire claimed the lives of two people inside the car and caused all lanes of a major roadway in Plantation to be closed.

According to the Plantation Fire Department, the crash took place around 3:30 a.m. along University Drive between Northwest 3rd and 5th Streets. The PFD stated that they were able to put out the blaze but the roadway was closed in both directions.

Plantation Police Department officials say the driver of a 2014 Mercedes lost control and crashed into a tree, causing the car to burst into flames. Both the driver and a passenger, who was identified as a child, died at the scene.

Police have not released the identity of either victim.
