Report says the accident happened on the eastbound lanes of SR 8 causing the road to completely shut down due to the extent of the crash.
According to the report, one person has died in a two-car crash on SR 82 and Calumet Road in Hendry County. This incident reportedly occurred after a driver drove the wrong way down the road.
The identity of the drivers have been revealed to the public. The victim of the crash was identified as a 31-year-old Luis Cruz, who was driving westbound on SR 82. The other driver was identified as Bruno Borra, who was driving eastbound on SR 82.
According to the report, Cruz hit the right front side of Borra’s van, resulting in the cars catching fire.
It was reported that Cruz died on the scene. Borra was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
Police are investigating the cause of the fatal crash.
