Jacksonville Traffic News: Woman Killed By JTA Bus on Ocean Street in Mayport

JSO reported that a woman was killed after being run over by a Jacksonville Transportation Authority bus on Ocean Street in Mayport.

According to Witnesses, the lady got her arm stuck in the door as she was getting off the bus near the front and ended up entangled in the bus’s tire underneath.

The report from Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office revealed that the woman is 50-year’s-old and lives in the area.

It was reported that investigators and JTA officials are on the scene at Ocean Street and Pearl. They have been talking with witnesses and will review tapes from cameras that are installed on JTA buses.

Kris Drayton said, “After she was beating on it (the bus) he stopped and he let her arm go. All I saw is he dragged her under the bus and that last back wheel ran over her. I saw it happen right in front of me.”

Ocean Street was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
