A Jacksonville Police Officer was struck by a vehicle while attending to a stranded motorist on McCormick Road, authorities said.
The accident involved a Chrysler SUV and a Toyota Hilux truck on McCormick Road, near Kernan Boulevard North Intersection. The accident occurred when a JSO officer was helping the driver of the Toyota truck. This was after the Toyota broke down at the side of the road, authorities reported. The driver of the Chrysler SUV ignored a caution sign and ran into the truck with the officer and the driver.
Consequently, the officer and the driver of the Chrysler SUV sustained serious injuries, EMS said. Fortunately, however, the crash was not fatal. The driver of the Toyota truck also suffered injuries from the crash. EMS transported the three victims to the nearest hospital, authorities confirmed.
The precise cause of the pickup truck action that led to the incident is yet unknown. Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
