According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 35-year-old man was critically injured in a fiery crash MLK Parkway in Springfield.
Crash report says Firefighters with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, along with FHP, were to Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway at 8th Street, where a car was engulfed in flames.
It was further reported that the 35-year-old Jacksonville man was cut off and then he lost control and crashed into a pole, knocked it down and caused a brief power outage. Crash caused power outage, water main break in Springfield
It has been reported that the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office closed all northbound lanes of Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway, including entrances to MLK Parkway from the Hart Bridge, Mathews Bridge and downtown to 8th Street. Haines Street and the off-ramp to MLK onto Haines Street were also blocked.
Troopers said the driver of the car was taken to UF Health hospital with critical injuries.
The FHP report described the other vehicle only as a dark-colored passenger car. The two cars did not come in contact, troopers said.
