The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident that has left a 14 year old girl severely injured after she was hit by a pickup truck at the intersection of Lane Avenue North and Jacks Road.
Law enforcement authorities said the crash occurred in Jacksonville at the intersection of Lane Avenue North and Jacks Road. Witnesses told Florida Highway Patrol that three juveniles were playing near the intersection when the victim darted into traffic and was struck by a pickup truck. Officials did not say why the girl darted into traffic and no further information was released at the time of the report.
EMS arrived to the accident soon after it happened and reported that the crash left the girl with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Emergency Medical Services administered on-site first aid to the girl before transporting her to the nearest hospital for treatment, FHP said.
Officials did not reveal the name of the victim but reports say she is in stable condition and is responding to treatment.
The driver was not injured in the accident and no charges have been filed. Law enforcement reported that the accident is still under investigation.
