Police said three people are in critical condition following a multiple vehicle accident on I-10 in Jacksonville.
According to law enforcement officials, a tractor-trailer rear-ended another tractor-trailer, forcing it out of its lane. The second tractor-trailer hit other vehicles on the highway causing a huge backup on I-10.
Authorities reported that four other vehicles across the lanes were involved in the crash. Fortunately, vehicles traveling behind the trucks managed to avoid the accident.
Police reported the six vehicles involved in the crash were a BMW, a Toyota, a Ford, a Ford SUV and the two tractor-trailers. The total headcount of the people involved in the multiple-vehicle accident was reported to be twelve.
EMS and police reported that eight people sustained injuries. Paramedics transported the injured victims to the nearest hospital. Three people were reportedly in critical condition.
The accident remains under investigation.
