Five people were injured in a two-car crash on McCormick Road, police said.
The crash at the intersection of McCormick Road and Kerman Boulevard North involved a Chevrolet Silverado and a Toyota Corolla. The 31-year-old driver of the Toyota reportedly ran the red light and t-boned the moving Chevrolet, police said.
It was reported that three passengers were in the Chevrolet that was driven by a 51-year-old man. The four occupants of the car sustained severe injuries of varying degrees, police says. Two were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and the other two sustained life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Toyota was in the car with his cat, Jacksonville police said. The cat was seriously injured and was transported to Wonderwood Animal hospital, Jacksonville.
Police reported, that the driver of the Toyota has been cited for a red light violation. He was also taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
