A 5-year-old boy is receiving treatment at the hospital after he was inadvertently jolted out of bed in his bedroom by a vehicle that crashed into his house.
Carlos Gallardo is the father of the yet to be identified boy. His son was in his race car bed when the crash happened at 56th Avenue and Lincoln Street.
An eye witness gave his own account of the incidence. Tony Felipe said “I was riding as a passenger in a black van when all of a sudden, a Chevrolet Impala ran through the top sign. There was no time to intervene.”
He however stated that it appeared that the driver tried to stop but it was too late. The car was going to fast and crashed into the home, went through the wall and then hit the boy’s bed. It was reported that there was a sofa on the other side of the room which may have helped to soften the impact of the crash resulting in non- life threatening injuries to the boy.
Authorities identified the driver of the vehicle to be at fault. He was arrested for driving with a suspended license and also given three different traffic citations. The father of the boy said the boy was immobile when he was found, but thankfully, he is injuries are not life threatening.
Gallardo is grateful to God his son is okay though he is still in the hospital. The house has been declared not safe to live because of a cracked foundation. At this time temporary supports have been added to the home until it can be properly rebuilt.
