Grandmother Killed And Daughter Injured In Naples Accident

A serious car accident in Naples has left one woman dead and at least two others injured.

The crash took place at the intersection of Tamiami Trail and Central Avenue in Naples.  The road was shut down to traffic in all directions at the intersection. This allowed the emergency crews to help the victims.

A black Honda Civic was traveling northbound approaching Central Avenue at the time of the accident. The car’s driver suddenly lost control, drove over the median, and collided with a Nissan that was traveling in the southbound lane.

The driver of the Nissan was a 78 year-old woman from Ft. Myers.  Also in the car was her granddaughter, age 16.  The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and her granddaughter was injured and transported to a local hospital.

The driver of the Honda, who it was reported to have caused the crash, was also transported to the hospital having sustained injuries.  There was a possibility of a third car being involved in the crash.  This was according to 911 calls received, local police reported.

At this time the police have not released the reason that the driver of the Honda lost control.  It possibly could have been from distracted driving.

Marc Anidjar, from the Law Firm of Anidjar & Levine, comments:  “Police officers of a traffic fatality typically do a much more detailed and through analysis  of the scene.  The reports generally will include photographs, measurements and final resting points.  These fatality reports generally take longer to get a copy of,  but the information provided will assist all parties involved in determining fault and facts of loss.  Our heartfelt sympathies to anyone whose loved ones were involved in this tragic loss.”
