A spokesman for the Fort Lauderdale Police Department says that four people were injured following a wrong way accident on St. Andrews Avenue, near Davie Boulevard.

Law enforcement officials say they are currently investigating a multiple vehicle accident involving a wrong way driver on St Andrews Avenue that led to multiple injuries. According to police, the accident happened in the northbound lanes of the highway where authorities believe the driver missed his turn at Davie Boulevard and crashed into two cars and one van traveling in the opposite direction.

EMS arrived at the scene of the accident and administer on-site first aid to the injured victims in the incident. Emergency crews reported that the 21-year-old male driver, who drove his Honda in the wrong direction, sustained serious injuries. The occupants of both cars were also injured. The van driver was not hurt, but some of his passengers sustained minor injuries with one of the passengers seriously injured.

Officials reported that all of the injured victims in the accident were either treated at the scene or transported to an area hospital by ambulance.

Police say the incident is still under investigation and no further details were released.
