Fort Myers Police Department reports that a pedestrian was injured in an accident on Edison Avenue after he was struck by a Kia SUV as he was crossing the road.

According to officials at the Fort Myers Police Department, the incident occurred on Edison Avenue where a man was struck as he was using a crosswalk.

The pedestrian, a 26-year-old man, was using the crosswalk when he was hit by the driver of a Kia SUV. Reports did not say why the driver of the Kia hit the pedestrian, but witnesses say the driver remained at the scene of the accident and was questioned by police.

EMS arrived on scene shortly after the accident happened and reported that the pedestrian suffered multiple injuries and was treated at the scene before being transported to the nearby hospital.

Officials say charges are pending for the driver and the accident is still under investigation.
