Police stated that a male pedestrian was severely injured on Marsh Avenue after he was hit by a pickup truck.
According to officials, the accident happened on Marsh Avenue, close to the Brookside Village Apartments. A man was walking on the sidewalk along the road when a pickup truck driver, a 28-year-old man from Charleston, was heading north on Marsh Avenue. He lost control of his vehicle and veered off the road and ran into the pedestrian.
EMS arrived to the scene of the accident soon after it happened to administer first aid to the injured pedestrian. Emergency crews reported that the pedestrian, a 42-year-old man, suffered a broken rib during the collision. He was transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance shortly after EMS arrived.
Eyewitnesses said the driver had been driving recklessly on the road before hitting the pedestrian. No official reason has been given for the cause of the accident and officials say the incident is still under investigation. No further details were released at the time of this report.
