Five Injured In 5-Vehicle Crash On I-75 %%excerpt%% I-75

Five people suffered injuries in a five-car crash on Southbound I-75 between SR-82 and Luckett Road, Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, one of the vehicles in the crash was a 40-foot box truck. The box truck collided with a car and both vehicles broke through the guardrail and into the path of southbound traffic.

Three other vehicles were involved in a secondary crash.

Authorities said five people were taken to Lee Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Due to the impact of the crash, the road was closed as tow trucks and fire rescue trucks were at the scene to help clear the debris.

Officials said the accident remains under investigation.
