Fort Myers Police said a 25-year-old woman sustained severe injuries when struck by a pickup truck while riding her bicycle on Ortiz Avenue.
The woman lost control when a 2012 Nissan Frontier sideswiped her bicycle into the side of the road. Report says she was thrown off the bicycle when the crash happened. The accident happened on Ortiz Avenue, in Fort Myers, as affirmed by the authorities. Fort Myers Police also reported that the woman sustained severe injuries, though non-life-threatening.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation, police said.
After the Nissan pickup truck sideswiped the bicycle as earlier reported, it then hit the guardrail by the side of the road and came to a standstill.
Upon arrival of the EMS to the scene of the accident, the bicycle rider was first attended to, police said. She reportedly suffered a dislocation on her left arm which she landed with. However, the driver of the pickup truck was not reported injured.
No charge is filed by the authorities yet. The accident is still being investigated.
