Florida Highway Patrol reported that a man was killed after a wrong-way driver crashed into his car on Southwest Eighth Street and 157th Avenue.

According to FHP spokesman Alejandro Camacho, a silver Ford F150 pickup truck driven by 35-year-old man was traveling east in the westbound lanes of Tamiami Trail. He was reportedly approaching Southwest 157th Avenue. Consequently, he struck a silver Hyundai Elantra driven by Felix Alberto Restrepo head-on.

Report says the driver of the pickup truck survived the crash with critical injuries. He was taken to Kendall Regional Medical Center.

From the report given by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, the 45-year-old driver of Hyundai, Restrepo, died on the scene.

As reported by the spokesman Camcho, he said “We suspect that alcohol was a factor”.

Charges are pending as the crash remains under investigation.
