Report says a cyclist died after a car stuck him in a crash that happened along Philips Highway, Southside Jacksonville.
Police said the male cyclist was pronounced dead on the scene. It was reported that he was heading southbound on Philips Highway when a driver struck him.
According to the report, it was confirmed that the driver had left the scene. However, investigators got in touch with the driver shortly after the crash.
The cause of the fatal crash as not yet been ascertained as the police is still investigating the crash. The identity of the cyclist is still been withheld from the public as well.
No arrests have been made, but police said there may be some charges in the future pending the outcome of an investigation.
Police closed southbound Philips Highway, but the road has since reopened.
