A 32-year-old man was unconscious after a two-car crash in Fort Lauderdale, police said. His car reportedly struck a car traveling in the opposite direction when the accident happened.

The accident happened on Bayview Drive near Coral Ridge Country Club, police said. It happened when the 32-year-old lost control of his 2011 BMW 535i as he was southbound on Bayview Drive. He rammed into a 2012 Toyota Corolla going north.

Four occupants of the Corolla were taken to a hospital with severe injuries, according to a Fort Lauderdale Police officer. The injuries sustained by the passengers were reported to be non-life-threatening.

The extent of the injuries sustained by the driver of the BMW is traumatic, police said. He was reportedly immobile and unconscious on emergency responders arrival.

According to the authorities, the driver of the BMW was place on life support. EMS transported all the victims of the crash to a nearby hospital.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
