Driver Going Wrong Way Caused Head-On Accident on Southwest 30th Avenue

Fort Lauderdale Police Department said a 43-year-old man suffered injuries in an accident on Southwest 30th Avenue.

According to the police report, a man was driving northbound on Southwest 30th Avenue in a 2009 GMC Sonoma at the same time that a 2007 Dodge Charger, driven by a 33-year-old male, traveled southbound in the northbound lanes on the same road.

The accident occurred near the area of Alandco. The Dodge Charger allegedly struck the GMC vehicle head on at a moderate speed.

Both men sustained moderate injuries and paramedics transported them to a nearby hospital for treatment. Fortunately, both men wore safety belts at the time of the accident. Both vehicles did not contain passengers.

According to prior arrest records, the Dodge driver has been previously arrested for driving while intoxicated although that was not determined to be a factor in this accident.

Police are investigating the incident.
