Cyclists Hospitalized In An Edgewater Car Accident in Miami

Law enforcement officials say two people have been confirmed injured after a vehicle hits their motorcycle in Edgewater.

Police say the accident happened close to the intersection of Northeast 2nd Avenue in Edgewater. A man and woman were riding a motorcycle on Northeast 20th Street when a vehicle ran a red light and hit the motorcycle. The motorcycle was knocked off of the road and hit the guardrail before coming to a stop.

EMS arrived on scene soon after the accident was called in. They were seen giving medical attention to the driver and passenger of the motorcycle. The 28-year-old man driving the motorcycle sustained severe injuries. He was immediately transported to the nearest hospital for further treatment.

His passenger, a 25-year-old woman, was also injured in the accident and taken to the hospital.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured in the accident and stayed behind to be questioned by police.

No other details were released and police say the accident is still is under investigation.
