Authorities reported a traffic accident involving a tractor trailer and a SUV on Bonita Beach Road in Fort Myers that left the driver of the SUV critically injured.
According to the news release by the officials, the crash happened on Bonita Beach Road in Southwest Fort Myers when the driver of a tractor trailer hit the Sport Utility Vehicle. The driver later admitted to officials he had been driving out of exhaustion and could not focus. A female driver of the SUV, whose name was not released, was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated.
She was taken to the hospital. Her medical condition is unknown at the time of this report. The driver of the tractor trailer was treated at the scene having received minor injuries.
The road was initially closed but has since reopened. The crash remains under active investigation. More details would be released at the completion of investigation.
