Report says, 15-year-old Cassie Torres was killed after a driver struck her bike at a Pembroke Pines intersection.

At the moment, no charges have been filed against the 53-year-old driver who was in the crash at Taft Street and Northwest 125th Avenue.

In an account of the accident by Pembroke Pines police, Torres rode her bike east on Taft’s south side sidewalk prior to the crash. She then made a turn to the left to cross Taft at Northwest 125th Avenue. The 53-year-old driver of a Mercedes C230 was driving west on Taft in the left hand lane. There’s no light at the intersection.

As stated in the police account, “As the Mercedes traveled through the intersection, the bicycle rode into its path and was struck.”

Report says Torres died in Memorial Regional Hospital’s trauma center in Hollywood despite the attempts to save her life.

The Mercedes driver remained on the scene. The accident is still being investigated.
