According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a man was seriously injured in a chain-reaction crash involving three cars on I-295, at Gate Parkway.

The Investigators reported that two cars, a Chevy and an Infiniti, were stopped in the roadway due to northbound traffic on the highway near the Baymeadows Road exit at Gate Parkway. However, a Hyundai failed to stop in time and reportedly crashed into the rear of the Chevy, which struck the Infiniti.

Report says the forceful impact of the crash lifted the rear of the Chevy off the ground, consequently wedging part of the Hyundai underneath. Officials reported that the passenger in the Hyundai identified as a 22-year-old Darius Wiggins, was seriously injured. Meanwhile, the driver had minor injuries.

The driver of the Chevy was said to have minor injuries. The driver of the Infiniti was not injured.

No charge has been filed at this time but the incident is under investigation.

Glen Levine, from the Law Firm of Anidjar and Levine, comments on this crash. “This was an unfortunate multi-vehicle accident that led to two people being hospitalized. When there is heavy traffic on our roadways, motorists need to be extra cautious.  It is especially important that all drivers make sure they are not distracted because they can put the lives of others at risk. When a negligent driver causes a crash, he or she could be held accountable for the accident. An injured victim should seek out an experienced accident attorney to help with the collection of compensation for medical care, losses and damages.”
