Law enforcement officials say an elderly female pedestrian is in critical condition after she was hit by a pickup truck on Central Avenue as she was walking her dog.
According to reports the 81-year-old woman was walking alongside her dog on the sidewalk of Central Avenue when she was struck by a truck. Eyewitnesses said, the woman was walking with the aid of a cane as she was hit by a Ford pickup truck that swerved onto the sidewalk.
Officials did not give an official statement why the vehicle lost control and hit the elderly woman. They said the incident is still under investigation as they look into the actual cause of the crash.
EMS arrived to the scene of the accident soon after it happened to administer on-site first aid to the injured woman. Emergency crews reported that she was transferred to the hospital by first responders immediately after she was stabilized. It was also reported that her dog was not hurt in the accident.
The woman’s identity has not been released to the public. It was not reported if any charges will be filed against the truck driver in the future.
