A two vehicle crash at the top of the Matanzas Pass Bridge on Fort Myers Beach closed both lanes of San Carlos Boulevard for several hours.

In a report by the officials, a crash occurred on top of the Matanzas Bridge in Fort Myers. Both lanes going and off the bridge were shut down. Motorists were advised to avoid the area altogether and use another alternative route.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, four persons were taken to the hospital having sustained injuries following the two vehicle crash.

It is yet unclear what might have led to the crash. A thorough investigation has is being conducted by the Fort Myers Police Department. No additional details have been released.
