Biker Dead, Another Critically Injured In McGregor Boulevard Crash

One motorcyclist was killed and another is in critical condition after a crash on McGregor Boulevard, officials said.

Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol said they arrived at the three-vehicle crash on McGregor Boulevard near Lake McGregor Drive just after 8 p.m.

Authorities said a Fort Myers woman with two kids in the car was driving south in the outside lane of McGregor heading towards Lake McGregor. A 29-year-old Davenport man and a 35-year-old Port Charlotte man — both on motorcycles — were headed in the same direction but were behind the car.

In an attempt to pass the car, the 29-year-old motorcyclist merged into the inside lane and hit the car, troopers said. The collision caused the biker to swerve towards the curb and it fell on its side. The other biker swerved to avoid the crash and also hit a curb.

The Davenport man was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The Port Charlotte man was also taken to the hospital where he is being treated for critical injuries.

The Fort Myers woman and the two kids in the car were not injured. Both motorcyclists were not wearing helmets at the time of the crash, troopers said.
