Accident on University Boulevard South; Female Pedestrian Severely Injured

Report says an oncoming vehicle struck a 36-year-old woman on University Boulevard South near Kennerly Road.  She suffered severe injuries.

A statement from a Jacksonville Sheriff officer said that the female victim was hit by an oncoming vehicle near the intersection at Kennerly Road.

Consequently, the woman sustained life-threatening injuries and paramedics immediately transported her to a nearby hospital, according to the official. Police shut down University Boulevard South for almost an hour as they worked on the scene, however, they reopened the driveway afterward.

The victim attempted to cross University Boulevard South when a Subaru hatchback traveling at a low speed suddenly crashed into her. The 27-year-old driver remained at the site of the accident and assisted law enforcement officials with their investigation.

The preliminary investigation report is almost concluded and the report will be made public soon.
