A preliminary crash report indicated that a police officer with the Naples Police Department was hospitalized after a crash on Pine Ridge Road, at Central Naples.
A spokesperson for NPD reported that the driver of the cruiser was heading west on Pine Ridge Road when the driver of another vehicle, a Chevrolet HHR, turned into the path of the officer and caused the crash.
The officer was hospitalized for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, the spokesperson said. The other driver was not injured.
The report says the identity of the police officer was not made public, likewise the identity of the Chevrolet HHR driver. The reason the Chevrolet driver veered off his path has not been determined.
It’s unclear if the Chevrolet’s driver will receive a citation.
Comment from Anidjar and Levine:
Glen Levine, from the Law Firm of Anidjar and Levine, comments on this crash: “ An Accident in Naples on Pine Ridge Road caused an injury on a police officer. This was a devastating accident that left an officer in the hospital. Accidents like this are one of the most dangerous kinds of accidents. This type of accident usually happens because of driver error, meaning they are preventable. Sadly, the innocent victims of these crashes are rendered powerless: often, there’s nothing you can do when an oncoming vehicle is bearing down on you.”
