A police officer was hit by a vehicle while attending to a stranded motorist on Treeline Avenue, authorities said.
The accident involved a Chrysler SUV and a Toyota Hilux truck on Treeline Avenue, in the Colonial Country Club area. The accident occurred when a police officer was offering assistance to the driver of the Toyota truck. This was after the Toyota broke down on the side of the road, police reported. The driver of the Chrysler SUV ignored a caution sign and ran into the truck and the policeman.
Consequently, the policeman and the driver of the Chrysler SUV sustained serious injuries, EMS said. Fortunately, however, the crash was not fatal. The driver of the Toyota truck also suffered injuries from the crash. EMS transported the three victims to the nearest hospital, authorities confirmed.
The precise cause of the pickup truck action that led to the incident is yet unknown. Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
Glen Levine, from the Law Firm of Anidjar and Levine, comments on this crash: “This was a serious accident that left a driver and an officer serious injured. Accidents like this are one of the most dangerous kinds of accidents. This type of accident usually happens because of driver error, meaning they are preventable. Sadly, the innocent victims of these crashes are rendered powerless: often, there’s nothing you can do when an oncoming vehicle is bearing down on you.. We wish that all involved have a speedy recovery from their injuries in this terrible accident.”
