According to Fort Lauderdale police, a two-vehicle crash along Southwest 27th Avenue that sent two drivers to the hospital may have occurred when one of the drivers suffered a medical issue.
The crash reportedly happened at Southwest 27th Avenue at Melrose Manors.
A 2014 Kia Soul driven by an 80-year-old man was speeding northbound on Southwest 27th. The vehicle suddenly veered to the left and struck the front of a 2018 Ford Mustang being driven south on Southwest 27th Avenue by a 32-year-old man.
The report says an eyewitness driving behind the 80-year-old saw the vehicle make an erratic movement and swerve into the oncoming lane.
He reportedly suffered severe injuries in the crash and was taken to the nearest hospital where he was listed in serious condition. Also, police reported he may have had a medical issue just prior to the collision.
The 32-year-old was also taken to the same hospital. His condition was not known. Meanwhile, a 30-year-old female, a passenger in the Mustang, suffered a minor injury.
