An 80-year-old Cape Coral man suffered life-threatening injuries in a car crash in the 400 block of NW 1st Terrace, officials said.
Officers with the Cape Coral Police Department responded to the scene around 6:30 a.m.
Authorities said an 80-year-old man was walking his dogs on the right side of the road when he was hit by a passing car. He fell onto the hood of the car and slammed his head into the windshield.
The 61-year-old Cape Coral man driving the car swerved left in reaction to the crash and stopped in the road, facing east, police said. He suffered no injuries in the crash.
The 80-year-old was trauma alerted to a nearby hospital where he remains in critical condition, officers said.
It’s not known if the man walking his dogs spontaneously crossed in front of the car or if he was already in the road as the car approached him, police said.
