Law enforcement officials report an accident at an intersection that sent a mother and her 4-month-old baby to the hospital with serious injuries.
According to the news release by officials, the crash happened at the intersection of Rockfill Road and Edison Avenue where an 18-year-old driver lost control of his car and crashed into a vehicle and injuring a mother and her infant.
The mother and her 4-month-old baby were traveling in a Ford Mustang when the vehicles collided at the intersection. Report says the 4-month-old baby was ejected from the car during the crash. Investigators found a car seat inside the vehicle but were unsure if the baby was in it or if the baby was properly secured in the vehicle.
The baby was taken to the nearest medical center with critical injuries where the infant’s current condition was unknown at the time of this report. The mother of the child sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital as well. The young driver remained at the scene of the crash and was questioned by police.
Officials say the incident is still under investigation and no further details were released.
