3 Killed After Carjacker Drives Wrong Way On I-9

A carjacker trying to escape police and driving on the wrong way onto I-95 in central Florida has caused the death of three persons.

Authorities report that the carjacker had a head-on collision with another vehicle, killing himself, the driver of the other vehicle and a passenger.

Florida Highway Patrol say two other people were injured in the crash.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said a man had been involved in a carjacking earlier in the day in Orange County and was trying to get away from deputies on northbound I-95.

He headed into the southbound lanes, heading against traffic with his headlights off around 7 p.m.

Officials say that deputies tried to stop the oncoming traffic, but the man’s car hit another vehicle head-on.

EMS report that two people in the backseat of the second car were taken to local hospitals with traumatic injuries.

The names of the three people that were killed were not released.
