2 Young Children, Pregnant Mom Injured In Hit-And-Run Crash In Jacksonville Police and rescue personnel were called in to a crash on Alpha Avenue and Alta Vista Street, off Cassat Avenue in Jacksonville.

Police and rescue personnel were called in to a crash on Alpha Avenue and Alta Vista Street, off Cassat Avenue in Jacksonville. Two young children and their pregnant mother were injured when two SUV’s collided.

Police say a red Dodge Durango ran a stop sign and crashed into a Kia Sorrento, causing it to overturn. The driver of the Durango ran after the crash.  The police described him as a thin white man between 30 and 35 years old, about 6 feet 2 inches tall, wearing a red baseball cap, a black tank top and red shorts. A woman who was in the same vehicle with the man remained at the scene, but police said she was uncooperative with the investigation.

The occupants of the Kia, a woman who was 9-months pregnant and her 2-and 3-year-old children, were all hospitalized at UF Health Jacksonville.

Police said one of the children was ejected in the crash. A Jacksonville Fire Rescue spokesman said the two children had critical injuries, but police later said it appeared their injuries were not life threatening.

Police are now investigating how fast the Durango was traveling at the time and checked if it was stolen.

Marc Anidjar, from the Law Firm of Anidjar and Levine, comments on this crash:  “This is an unfortunate accident that is devastating to those involved in this hit and run accident.  In our firm, besides what local law enforcement would do to conduct an investigation, we would dispatch our own team to try and find clues.  We would do everything possible to canvas the crime scene, look for private video footage, and question local residents and commuters.  This should all be done as soon as possible after the accident to insure that the guilty driver is identified and will take responsibility for their actions.  Our deepest sympathies go out to the families that are trying to deal with this terrible crash.”
