Portions of I-75 Shutdown After Serious Crash With Injuries A serious crash has shut down a portion of northbound lanes of Interstate 75 according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol a major crash with injuries shut down a section of the northbound lanes of Interstate 75.

In a report by the FHP a serious accident occurred under the Estero Parkway overpass at mile marker 125 involving a dump truck and a food truck. Both trucks were heading northbound on Interstate 75 when the dump truck’s tire ruptured causing the driver to lose control and then collide with an incoming food truck. Both vehicles went through the guard rail and hit the bridge’s pillars. The roads were blocked off so that emergency vehicles could attend to the crash while traffic was diverted to the 123 exit.

According to Susan Lindennuth, of Estero Fire Rescue, both drivers of the trucks were taken to the Lee Memorial hospital in critical condition. Emergency crews did not give specific details about the injuries the victims received.

Law enforcement did not release any other details and the incident is still being investigated. No charges had been filled at the time of this report.
