Two People were Killed in a Plane Crash at Northeast Regional Airport in St. Augustine on U.S. 1, the Florida Highway Patrol has Confirmed.
Authorities said the two onboard the plane were a 19-year-old female student and her flight instructor. Several students from a local flight school said this was the student’s first flight.
The National Transportation Safety Board said it will be sending an investigator to St. Augustine to investigate the crash.
The Federal Aviation Administration released the following information about the crash:
“A single-engine Cessna 152 crashed at Northeast Florida Regional Airport in St. Augustine, Fla., around 2:30 p.m. local time today. Two people were aboard.
“The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will release the tail number of the aircraft after investigators verify it at the accident site. The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate. The NTSB will be in charge of the investigation and will provide additional updates.”
