A preteen pedestrian, 11 years of age, was severely injured after been struck by a car on Shadow Glen Way.
According to Fort Myers authorities, the accident happened on Shadow Glen Way, near Independence Way. The preteen boy was walking along the street when a 2013 Honda Civic traveling southbound struck him.
The 2013 Honda Civic was driven by a 36-year-old man who was allegedly distracted while driving. An eyewitness added that he was receiving a phone call when he struck the boy.
Officials reported that the 11-year-old has been taken to a nearby hospital having sustained severe injuries. Report says, the casualties were minimized because the driver was not moving at a high rate of speed.
