A woman is dead and a man suffered serious injuries after a crash in Southeast Jacksonville, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
JSO said the crash occurred in the 2800 block of Parental Home Road just before 6 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers found a single-car crash that involved two people.
The male driver was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries and the female passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene, JSO said.
Police said the vehicle was heading southbound on Parental Home Road when the driver failed to negotiate a curve in the road at the intersection of Dean Road.
The vehicle then left the road and drove through a fence and crashed into a tree.
The Traffic Homicide Unit is on scene investigating. Authorities said the road will remain closed for approximately two more hours.
Drivers are encouraged to use caution in the area.
